Shop safely – also online

When you shop online and pay with your Visa/Dankort or MasterCard, some shops will ask you to confirm your payment with a one-time password you receive by text message. When you enter the text message password, you confirm that you are the person using your card, and your card details have extra protection.

You need to use the text message password in online shops that use the Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode solutions. The text message password has been introduced by banks in Denmark in cooperation with Nets. It will not cost you anything to use the new security solution.

You must register for the new security
solution yourself. But if your mobile number
was registered in Danske eBanking before 15
October 2013, we have already registered you.

How to register
To be able to make purchases in online shops that use the Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode security solutions, you must register for the new solution. So first of all, you must register your mobile phone number and card number in order to be able to receive the text message password when you enter your card details when you make an online purchase.

There are two ways of registering -you need NemID for both:
  • On Nets’ website (www.nets.eu/dk)
  • Through an online shop that uses the Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode solutions. (The first time you shop in an online shop that uses the security solution, you will be redirected to Nets’ website where you can register).

You can register only via a PC or Mac
If you usually do your online shopping with a tablet or smartphone, we recommend that you register via a PC or Mac. That way you will not be “disturbed” in the middle of making a purchase.

If you get a new card from Danske Bank
If you get a new Visa/Dankort or MasterCard from Danske Bank, we will register the card for the security solution – but only if you have registered your mobile phone number in Danske eBanking.
