When do I have to use the text message password? How does the security solution work?

Every time you buy something from an online shop that uses the Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode solutions, you will receive a one-time password by text message. You must use this password to confirm the payment.

Once the password has been verified, you can continue with your order. If you enter the password incorrectly, the payment will be rejected – and you will have to start again.

What do I need to be able to use the new security solution?

You need an international debit or credit card, a mobile phone and NemID.

You must register your card number and mobile phone number with Nets to be able to pay in online shops that use the Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode solutions. In order to register, you need NemID.

How do I register for the new security solution?

You can order NemID at Danske Bank if you also want to have Danske eBanking. Otherwise, you can order NemID at www.nemid.nu. www.nemid.nu.

How do I register for the new security solution?

You can register in several ways:

  • If you have Danske eBanking and you registered your mobile phone number there before 15 October 2013, we have already registered you for the solution.
  • If you get a new Visa/Dankort or MasterCard from Danske Bank, we register the card for the security solution – but only if you have Danske eBanking and you have registered your mobile phone number there.
  • If you do not have Danske eBanking or if your mobile phone number is not registered in Danske eBanking, you will be asked to register through Nets the first time you pay in an online shop that uses the solution.
  • You can also register straight away at www.nets.eu/dk.

When you register, you link a mobile phone number to your international debit or credit card. In order to register, you need NemID.
Why does Danske Bank register some customers automatically to the new security solution?

A lot of Danes shop online using a smartphone or a tablet. And because NemID does not work on tablets and smartphones for this purpose, we have decided to carry out the registration. That way, you do not have to log on from a PC or Mac in the middle of making an online purchase.

The customers we have registered automatically are the ones who registered their mobile phone number in Danske eBanking before 15 October 2013.

If you get a new Visa/Dankort or MasterCard from Danske Bank, we also register the new card for the security solution – but only if you have Danske eBanking and you have registered your mobile phone number there.

Once I have registered, can I then change the mobile number I have registered?

Yes. You can change the mobile phone number either when you are making an online purchase or on www.nets.eu/dk. You need NemID to change your details.

Can I register via a tablet or smartphone?

No. NemID cannot be used for this purpose on tablets and smartphones. You must register at www.nets.eu/dk via a PC or Mac. Once you have registered, you can use a smartphone or tablet to make online purchases.

Can I change my mobile number via a tablet or smartphone?

No. NemID cannot be used for this purpose on tablets and smartphones. You must register at www.nets.eu/dk via a PC or Mac.

Can I see my registration details in Danske eBanking?

No. But when you shop online, the Verified by Visa or MasterCard Secure dialogue box will show you which mobile number you have registered for the card you are using.

Do I have to register my Dankort?

No. The solution is used only for international debit or credit cards, such as MasterCard and Visa/Dankort. The solution applies only to the Visa element of a Visa/Dankort.

Can I use NemID even though I don’t have Danske eBanking?

Yes. All types of NemID can be used – also NemID issued by the public authorities (OCES).

What should I do if I can’t get NemID?

If you don’t have NemID, you unfortunately cannot use the security solution yet. We are working on a solution for customers that do not have NemID.

Remember that the security solution applies only in online shops that use Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode. The solutions are used mainly by non-Danish websites. So even though you do not have NemID or access to the security solution, you can still make purchases in other online shops.

What if I don’t have a mobile phone?

If you don’t have a mobile phone, you unfortunately cannot use the security solution. Note, however, that you can still make purchases in online shops that do not use Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode. The solutions are used mainly by non-Danish websites.

I live abroad and have a foreign mobile phone number. What do I do?

You can register foreign mobile phone numbers for Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode.

Does the solution work in areas with poor mobile coverage?

If you are in an area where you cannot receive text messages, you cannot use the solution. You will not be able to receive the text message password to confirm the payment, and the payment will be rejected.

Can I register more than one card for the same mobile phone number?

Yes.

What happens if I don’t receive a text message after I have registered?

Then you will not be able to confirm the payment, and the payment will be rejected. The system protects you against unauthorised use of your card.

Contact Danske Bank or Nets if you do not receive the text message passwords.

Can I register my corporate card?

Yes. You register corporate cards in the same way as your personal cards.

  • If you have Danske eBanking and you registered your mobile phone number there before 15 October 2013, we have already registered you for the solution.
  • If you get a new card from Danske Bank, we register the card for the security solution – but only if you have Danske eBanking and you have registered your mobile phone number there.
  • If you do not have Danske eBanking or if your mobile phone number is not registered in Danske eBanking, you will be asked to register through Nets the first time you pay in an online shop that uses Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode.
